Scranton's Fall Festivals Delight Families
Fall has arrived in northeastern Pennsylvania, and several local destinations near Scranton are offering seasonal activities for families. Visitors can explore a variety of festivities including corn mazes, wagon rides, pumpkin trails, cider tastings, and more.
At Roba Family Farms located at 200 Cranston Ave., N. Abington Twp, PA 18414, guests can navigate a corn maze and enjoy pig races, wagon rides, giant slides, and fall-themed attractions. The Glowing Pumpkin Trail offers a nighttime walk featuring thousands of illuminated, carved pumpkins.
Lakeland Orchard & Cidery, at 1649 Lakeland Dr, Scott Township, PA 18433, features a train ride through a Halloween Light Show, apple picking, axe throwing, live music, children's rides, and seasonal treats such as cider slushies.
Ritter's Cider Mill, found at 117 Wimmers Rd., Jefferson Township, PA 18436, continues a long-standing fall tradition with fresh-pressed cider, pumpkin picking, hay rides, pony rides, a corn maze, an apple slingshot, and opportunities to feed animals. The location also offers their apple cider donuts.
A short distance away, Ritter's Winery & Cidery at 1459 Mount Cobb Rd., Jefferson Township, PA 18436 provides adults the chance to enjoy hard cider and wine tastings. Children can take part in mini golf and playground activities, while visitors browse unique gifts and local goods at The Shoppes.
Covington Park, located at 139 Sanko Rd., Covington Township, PA 18444, presents another option for families. Guests can take a scenic fall walk, hold picnics in designated areas, or follow trails around the park and lake during the season.

Brevard Regional Science Fairs Crown Best of Show Winners
Brevard Public Schools says more than 600 projects from grades 6-12 were entered in its Regional Science Fairs, competed across three events—Mainland, Intracoastal and South—with Best of Show winners from each event named: Mainland — Johnson Middle School, Rockledge High School and Viera High School; Intracoastal — Hoover Middle School, Edgewood Jr./Sr. High School and Satellite High School; and South — West Shore Jr./Sr. High School; senior Best of Show winners earn an all-expenses-paid trip to the International Science and Engineering Fair in Columbus, Ohio, in May 2025, plus a $200 award and plaque, while 81 secondary students are heading to the State Science & Engineering Fair in Lakeland next week to showcase their talents.
